A photographer with a broken leg watches his neighbors through the window and suspects that his neighbor has murdered his invalid wife; a police detective succumbs to his neuroses after the death of his partner; a New York advertising executive is kidnapped by a gang of spies, who believe he is a CIA agent accused of murder; a woman on the run from her employer and the law stops at the mysterious Bates motel, and when she goes missing her sister and boyfriend hire an investigator to look into the disappearnace; the residents of Bodega Bay are inexplicably attacked by hundreds of birds.
